“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Thanks to the support of Chester County Women’s Voice, the creation and implementation of a Textile Warehouse in Idlib was made possible.
By donating an overwhelming number of sewing machines this project came into fruition, we added fabrics and sewing supplies to seal the deal.
The establishment of a sustainable business where women are empowered to work and resell their own creative designs, altered pieces, and mend clothing was a fantastic idea that we are delighted to be a part of, this entire process has nurtured the spirit of the women in Idlib.
The project covers so many amazing facets of the local community needs in Idlib. From producing garments for orphans in need, to offering a viable option to generate an income through marketplace sales, the results have been astonishing. The women of Idlib are delighted to be a part of this process.
To date over 200 sewing machines have been sent and repurposed to support this initiative. Along with the machines we have successfully supplied fabrics of all materials, colors, and textures.
Another wonderful element of this process is the ability to recycle torn and damaged items that were shipped in support as aid that would alternatively be discarded.
Today the textile warehouse is still operating and with much success. We appreciate all the support of our community and once again would like to say thank you to Chester County Women’s Voice.
